Host Your Own Talk, Seminar, Group or Retreat

I’m keen to work with community groups and churches etc who are interested in addressing any of the following:

  • Spiritual journeys
  • Men’s issues
  • Midlife
  • Gender relations
  • Marriage and the challenges of family life

Typically, this work takes the form of talks, group programs or retreats.

Examples

The following list provides examples of some of the events and programs I’ve conducted.

“Marriage May Be For Grown-ups But Do We Ever Get There?”

A talk given to several community groups and churches which addresses common assumptions, expectations and perspectives about marriage, and identifies what couples can do for themselves.

“Men and Marriage: Who Says We’re Not Up To It?!”

A talk given to several men’s groups which invites reflection on:

    • What is marriage?
    • What does it take?
    • How can I nourish my marriage?
    • What can I expect?

“Making the Most of Midlife”

A short seminar for men that looks beyond the notion of the ‘male mid-life crisis’ and sees the opportunities in midlife for rebalancing, recovering what’s missing, addressing unfulfilled dreams, dealing with dissatisfactions and doing our interior work.

“How Can You Mend a Broken Heart?”

A short workshop for men and women that addresses the place of ‘not coping’ or ‘falling apart’ in living a full and honest life – particularly at times of brokenness or broken-heartedness – and developing new perspectives and approaches.

“The Man’s Journey”

A six to eight week foundational group program for men that addresses core questions such as:

    • Who am I?
    • Where have I come from?
    • Where am I now?
    • Where am I going?
    • Who else is part of the journey?
    • What are the values and principles by which I want to live?

“Men and Marriage”

A six week program for men that addresses myths and realities of relationships:

    • The many facets of a healthy relationship
    • Communication, negotiation and conflict management skills
    • How to manage your partner’s needs and your own

“My Story; Our Story; The Big Story.”

A weekend retreat for men and women to explore personal vision, values and direction under three headings:

    • The story of my own journey in life
    • The story of my relationships
    • The wider story of life and its purpose
